Art Lab: Linocut Printmaking (morning)
Students will dive into the diverse world of linocut artwork, guiding you through each step of the process from developing your imagery ideas to creating distinct prints from start to finish. A print is created by carving a design into a block of lino, rolling ink onto the surface and laying paper or fabric on top then applying pressure to produce a print. We'll showcase various examples from artists to provide insight into its potential and offer inspiration. They will come home with their unique prints and their linocut block to make more at home.

AI Computer Science Lab: Minecraft - Who is that Ocelot (afternoon)
AI concepts are explored to illustrate the workflow development with the powerful AI integration within Minecraft Education. Nestled within a specially designed research outpost amid a lively savannah, students dive into the fusion of AI and Minecraft's diverse wildlife. Students will identify and track elusive ocelots using advanced AI technology. Through semi-supervised machine learning, students decode the distinctive coat patterns of each virtual ocelot, resembling human fingerprints. With the aid of Minecraft Education's interactive tools, they unravel the mysteries behind these markings, gaining deeper insights into the behaviors of these virtual creatures within this dynamic digital ecosystem. Additionally, after completing the coding session, students will have time for free play.

Tuesday April 23

Art Lab: Comic Books (morning)
Discover the core elements of comic book creation, including panel design, speech bubbles, layout structuring, and the fundamentals of visual storytelling. We'll delve into character development, plot structuring, and techniques for building immersive worlds within your narratives.

AI Computer Science Lab: Minecraft - Mapping Terrain (afternoon)
AI concepts are explored to illustrate the workflow development with the powerful AI integration within Minecraft Education. Students join an expedition team consisting of researchers, engineers, and scientists aiming to capture aerial photos of a remote forest. These images become the foundation for an AI-generated dataset defining the forest's healthy state. Using Minecraft Education's interactive tools and AI analysis, variations from this norm are detected, signaling areas requiring conservation efforts. By directing conservation initiatives to these specific regions, students actively contribute to nurturing delicate ecological systems. Additionally, after completing the coding session, students will have time for free play.

Wednesday April 24

Art Lab: Pendulum Painting (morning)
Join us for a hands-on exploration of the fascinating dynamics of pendulum motion in art. Discover the captivating process where suspended weighted objects create elegant brushstrokes on canvas, revealing the beauty of controlled chaos. This technique, used by artist Jackson Pollack, harnesses the rhythmic movement of pendulums to create intricate patterns and dynamic compositions. Experiment with various setups and paint densities to explore the interaction between motion, gravity, and color. Come away with experimental paintings on another level.

AI Computer Science Lab: Minecraft - Sustainable Farming (afternoon)
AI concepts are explored to illustrate the workflow development with the powerful AI integration within Minecraft Education. As students, the goal is to assist a developing country's local population in enhancing farming methods for a sustainable food source. Using Minecraft Education's tools, students gather satellite data for a semi-supervised machine learning AI. This AI system employs predictive analysis to identify areas with optimal weather and terrain for efficient farming practices. Additionally, after completing the coding session, students will have time for free play.

Thursday April 25

Art Lab: Cyanotype Photography (morning)
This lab delves into cyanotype photography, a camera-less method employing iron salt-coated paper, UV light exposure, and water rinsing to produce captivating white and Prussian blue imagery. Participants will engage hands-on with exposure concepts by creating compositions using objects sourced outdoors during a park field trip. Utilizing materials provided by the instructor, along with paper cut-outs, they'll harness sunlight to expose their compositions, unveiling the captivating essence of cyanotype artistry.

AI Computer Science Lab: Minecraft - Ocean Observations (afternoon)
AI concepts are explored to illustrate the workflow development with the powerful AI integration within Minecraft Education. Students will entrust an agent with the crucial task of repairing essential research equipment submerged on the ocean floor. Through this mission, they'll grasp the fundamentals of autonomous navigation and pathfinding, discovering their practical implications in underwater settings. Venturing into the realm of robotics, students will master the art of automating tasks in intricate and vital locations. Hands-on coding experiences will empower them to craft, test, and refine code, enhancing their problem-solving prowess. Moreover, students will embrace a considerate coding mindset, recognizing the significance of thoughtful and respectful coding practices, particularly in sensitive environments like the ocean floor research site. Additionally, after completing the coding session, students will have time for free plays.

Friday April 26

Art + Design Lab: DIY Pokémon Card Creation (morning)
Enter Pokémon Card Creation Lab where you'll explore crafting your own Pokémon cards. Dive into the basics of card design, choosing your Pokémon, devising abilities, and attacks. With provided templates and guidance, sketch, color, and detail your card while learning about strategic gameplay elements. Gain insights into balancing your card's abilities and design principles. Walk away with your personally designed Pokémon card, ready to impress.

AI Computer Science Lab: Artemis - Return to the Moon (afternoon)
AI concepts are explored to illustrate the workflow development with the powerful AI integration within Minecraft Education. Students will dive into a compelling mission: gathering water samples and harnessing supervised machine learning to pinpoint pollution sources. Their expedition involves meticulously collecting and preparing water samples, culminating in an extensive dataset creation. Navigating the realm of machine learning algorithms, they'll evaluate water quality and combat pollution. Using Minecraft Education's interactive tools, students explore supervised machine learning's concepts and applications, delving deeper if they wish. Through hands-on coding, they refine their skills, addressing environmental challenges using technology in Minecraft's immersive educational setting. Additionally, after completing the coding session, students will have time for free play.
