Animation Studio: Exploring Techniques from 2D to 3D

Animation Studio offers students a hands-on journey through a variety of animation techniques, from traditional hand-drawn flipbooks to advanced digital tools like Flip-a-Clip and Procreate Dreams. In this course, students will create unique animations using each method, exploring core principles like movement, timing, and storyboarding. Through a combination of manual and digital techniques, students will experiment with both 2D and 3D animation styles. By the end of the course, participants will have a diverse portfolio showcasing different approaches to animation and a strong foundation for future creative work.

Class Objectives:

1. Develop Core Animation Skills: Learn the essential principles of animation, such as timing, movement, and visual storytelling, and apply them across various projects.
2. Experiment with Traditional Techniques: Create animations using hand-drawn methods like flipbooks to explore the fundamentals of frame-by-frame motion.
3. Work with Digital Animation Tools: Explore digital platforms like Flip-a-Clip and Procreate Dreams, experimenting with techniques to create fluid animations.
4. Explore Multiple Animation Methods: Experiment with a wide range of animation styles, creating different projects that highlight traditional and digital approaches.
5. Introduction to 3D Animation: Get hands-on experience with 3D animation, experimenting with basic movement and character design in a 3D space.
6. Create and Animate Original Concepts: Design your own characters, stories, and environments, bringing them to life through the techniques learned throughout the course.
7. Build a Well-Rounded Animation Portfolio: Compile a collection of animated projects that demonstrate your versatility with both 2D and 3D techniques, traditional and digital styles.
