The Art of Stop-Motion + Digital Animation

Join us as we delve into the captivating realms of animation where we explore the art of stop-motion and digital animation techniques. Starting with the tactile charm of stop motion, participants will learn essential techniques in character manipulation, set design, and frame capture to bring inanimate objects to life. Transitioning seamlessly to digital animation, we'll delve into the user-friendly Flip-a-Clip iPad app, mastering basic animation principles. Then, advancing to Procreate Dreams, participants will refine their skills, exploring dynamic movements and visual effects to create polished animations. This comprehensive lab offers a straightforward yet enriching experience, perfect for those eager to dive into the diverse world of animation.

Class Objectives:

1. Motion Techniques: Students will delve into the world of stop motion, learning essential techniques such as character manipulation, set design, and frame capture to bring inanimate objects to life.
2. Storytelling Through Stop Motion: Through practical exercises and group discussions, we will explore the art of storytelling in stop motion, discovering how to convey narrative arcs and evoke emotions through visual storytelling.
3. Transition to Digital Animation: Building on their newfound understanding of stop motion, participants will transition to digital animation, beginning with the user-friendly Flip-a-Clip iPad app.
4. Flip-a-Clip: students will become proficient in using Flip-a-Clip, mastering its tools and features to create fluid animations and explore basic animation principles.
5. Procreate Dreams: With a solid foundation in digital animation established, the class will advance to Procreate Dreams, exploring its advanced capabilities for sketching, animation, and visual effects.
6. Refine Animation Skills: Utilizing Procreate Dreams, we will refine animation skills, experimenting with dynamic movements, timing, and visual effects to create polished animations.
