Day Camp: Friday June 6, 2025

Art Lab: DIY Scrolling Recycled Cardboard Television (morning)

In this lab, students will design and build a television-shaped display box using recycled cardboard and simple craft materials. Inside, they’ll create a scrolling “filmstrip” by illustrating a continuous story or scene on a long sheet of paper, then using hand-cranked rollers to bring it to life. This project blends storytelling, drawing, and hands-on building while encouraging creative reuse of materials.

Minecraft EDU Lab: AI for Cultural Heritage (afternoon)

Step into the heart of history in this lab, where students journey through 2,000 years of architectural innovation and explore the rich history of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Guided by the Sanpietrini—the expert community behind the basilica’s preservation—students take on the role of digital conservators, using AI and new technologies to uncover hidden stories and restore ancient wonders. From Roman engineering to Baroque design, learners will see how modern tools can help protect and share cultural heritage, while experiencing themes of history, cooperation, and preservation.
