SPRING BREAK CAMP 2017 – Day 1: Monday April 10

Wooden Mechanical Toy - Ages: 5-8
(Morning)  
If you like frivolous mechanical gadgets, you’ve come to the right place! Using wooden mechanical automata that function by using a hand-cranked system of cams, levers and pushrods. Automata are automated toys that have existed for centuries. The creation of automata requires much artistic and engineering skills. Our class will explore the basic science of movement through these structures.

Robotics: Mechanical Hand - Ages: 5-8
(Afternoon)
Build a mechanical hand powered by a motor. Using LEGO® Education WeDo™ 2.0 students will attach motor and sensor to their robot. They will use iPad to learn basic principles of programming and operation of their robot. Through Bluetooth connection, the students programming data will be transferred to their creations. Students will have to test their robotic hand by grabbing different size objects, as well as passing and receiving objects from other robots.

Robotics Maze Run - Ages: 9-12
(Morning)
Students will learn to build an automatous LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 robot to infiltrate hard to reach corridors. They will learn to program a robot that will conquer rough terrain and will utilize sensors to navigate through any obstacle course. No maze will be challenge for our robots!
