SPRING BREAK 2018: FRIDAY APRIL 6 - TINKERERS (Grades K-2)
MINECRAFT MONSTER ARENA (morning)
Teacher: Iltimas Doha
Minecraft Challenges is based on the idea of community inside/outside the world of Minecraft. This lab bundles all of the creative aspects that your student loves about Minecraft and wrapped it with collaborative learning and problem solving. This lab features endless waves of mutated monsters in The Monster Arena. Take part fun and intense monster battles, but keep in mind that it’s very challenging as there’s no way to stop the monsters from spawning once you’ve entered the arena. This takes teamwork!
LITTLEBITS LAUNCHER (afternoon)
Teacher: Hazal Mestci
Students will use the littleBits invention cycle, and an understanding of the basics of circuitry, motion and simple machines, to construct a launcher that flings projectiles towards a target. Students will modify their launcher using Bits and other materials to try to make it more powerful or accurate. Results from these trials will be used to create a unique game using their modified launcher. They will conclude the lab by hosting a game tournament, where students can explain and share their game, and test out others’ inventions.
