SUMMER OF STEAM 2020
ages 11 – 14
Remote online teacher led course
MAKER ELECTRONICS: (9am-12pm)
Music Production Lab
Instructor: Cal Fish
In this lab, we will learn about a variety of fun musical tools and methods available to us remotely in our homes. Luckily, we have more musical tools available to us online than ever! Each day a new tool and media artifact will be introduced before we set aside time to focus in on our individual musical interests, production, and play. All will be invited to share their works and receive feedback from the group. Access to an iPad for Garageband and other apps is very helpful but not completely necessary. This lab will prioritize student interests and needs and can help those experienced with music production continue to grow and build a collection of recordings, and can also work as an introduction to music production and recording. No experience is necessary though a familiarity with navigating digital apps and website will be helpful.
*Required: an iPad or computer with Garageband installed prior to class
MAKER GAMER: (1pm-4pm)
Dungeons & Dragons: The Count of Beresshire
DM: Matt Rubin
There once was a small town known as Beresshire Cache, a place tucked away in the misty woods and hills, far off from anywhere else. The legends of the droves of undead farming humans as livestock were brushed off as superstition, and even "debunked" on several occasions by parties of traveling clerics. However, late one evening, interrupting a beautiful sunset, a tremendous tower rose from out of the forest where the town of myth was said to be located, visible from settlements all around. At first, there was panic, which slowly began to subside over the following weeks as seemingly nothing of note followed. Then, mayors and members of the local nobility began to receive letters, delivered by unknown couriers that would arrive by night, containing disturbing and threatening messages, all signed by one Count Azzera of the County of Beresshire. And then, the disappearances began. Adventurers, once seen as reckless mercenaries at best, and wanton vagabonds at worst, are suddenly becoming more and more appealing to the defenseless citizens of the Meramor Region.
Count of Beresshire is a homebrewed campaign for Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. It takes place in a medium-magic, high-fantasy, "Nobledark" setting that takes heavy inspiration from the gothic horror genre. Fans of Curse of Strahd will have much to look forward to, here.
