Monday Minecraft Education Lab Fall 2025
Minecraft Education Lab: Space Science, Engineering + Build Challenges
In this space-focused lab, students will explore real-world science and engineering challenges through building and coding activities in Minecraft Education. Inspired by NASA missions like Artemis and the James Webb Space Telescope, students will take on guided challenges that simulate life in space, from building rockets and space stations to solving mini coding missions with Mission Control. Using MakeCode Blocks or Python, students will experience the problem-solving and teamwork involved in space exploration while learning how astronauts live and work aboard the International Space Station. The class combines hands-on design, digital construction, and space science in an interactive and creative environment. This lab promises a mix of educational fun, with free time at the end of each class for further exploration and creativity.
Class Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of the Artemis program and its role in returning humans to the Moon.
- Solve space-themed coding puzzles using either MakeCode Blocks or Python Notebooks within Minecraft Education.
- Learn about the daily life of astronauts aboard the International Space Station, including the tools and systems they rely on.
- Build rockets, satellites, and space stations in Minecraft while exploring the real-world science behind them.
- Collaborate with peers in designing, testing, and refining creative solutions to space-based challenges.
- Foster creativity through open-ended build challenges and end-of-class exploration time.
