Film Production Lab: Storyboarding + Music Video Production (morning)

Filmmaking combines creativity, teamwork, and technology. In this exciting new lab, students will learn the art of digital filmmaking through music video production. They will explore storyboarding, getting together props, basic shot list and finishing with an edit. Aside from allowing them to express their creativity, introducing filmmaking to children improves their understanding of the narrative, as well as their critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills.

Art + Design Lab: Zine Making + Self-Publishing (afternoon)

Get ready to go zine crazy! Zines are independently self-published and produced, photocopied booklets. They can contain original artwork, journal entries, poetry, fiction, political writing or all of the above. They're DIY, easy to reproduce, and you don't need anyone's permission to get started. The whole point is sharing something you care about and you want people to know. Students will review the history of zines, flip through a collection of fun creations for inspiration and develop a zine on their own.
