July 27 – July 31 Makers (grades 4-8)

Urban Design Lab

This class will feature all sorts of experiments in which we will design and create our own miniature infrastructure for miniature cities. This means real experiments building and testing magnetic bullet trains, real bridges made from dry spaghetti that can hold up to 50 lbs., and miniature cities and skyscrapers made out of Lego. Drawing from real examples of the city around us, we will use what we know to go deeper and see how the bridges, trains, and buildings we use every day actually work.

MAKER GAMER: (afternoon)

Dungeons & Dragons: Monster of the Day

Dungeon Master: Matt Rubin

Sometimes, as much as you might hate to admit it, the standard fare of Dungeon and Dragons' assortment of monsters can get a bit old; if you want something extra special, you have to dig deeper, which is something that doesn't fit in all that well with some campaigns. In this specialized course, each week will feature an adventure featuring monsters you likely haven't seen before, let alone encountered in an actual campaign. Here, the creatures that live in the shadows of the fame of goblins, gelatinous cubes, and beholders are going to be put in the spotlight for once. Just because the game is called Dungeons and Dragons doesn't mean it can't be about “Belfries and Balhannoths!".
