Prerequisite: DIY Musical Instruments – Creating Sound recommended but not required
Class Limit: 8

Musical instruments are ultimately about expression. The ways in which we interact with them highly influences that expression. For this second session of DIY Instruments we are going to focus on how we create interfaces to control sound and how that changes how we can express our musical ideas. Through the use of microcontrollers like the Arduino, development tools like the Makey Makey, and taking advantage of MIDI enabled software, students will experiment with different ways to control music. They will explore gesture, functionality, and performance, creating their own unique musical instrument interfaces.
