D&D Summer Friday Nites: Twilight Phenomenon

Summer 2022 Remote Class

With psychic plagues, threats of invasion, and conspiracies set in motion by cells of magical artists and their aberrant benefactors, the ever-present undead that have ravaged the countryside of Meramor have become less relevant in the public eye. The royal houses, the minister's parliament, and the minister herself, in order to deal with and control these issues, have been relying on the dead remaining quiet rather than as restless as they usually are. It was right when they started taking everything for granted when one night, the ground began to shake. The menacing tower that was once just barely visible sticking out of the northern woods on a clear day appeared to nearly triple in size. This caused no small amount of panic, but it was only exacerbated by astronomers in the capital city reporting that it wasn't just an increase in size, but rather than the tower seemed to be MOVING. By the time dark, mysterious mist began to spill from the tower's interior, making it appear to observers as a shadowing shifting mass rather than a concrete edifice, the minister's court received a formal declaration of war, signed by a familiarly terrifying individual - Azzera, the mysterious Countess of Beresshire, a land of the dead, once thought to be a place only of legend. But now, rather than referring to herself as Countess of this place, the name at the bottom of the letter was "Herzogin Azzera, Bringer of Life's Twilight."
