Cities & Maps

Ever wanted to learn how cities work or to design your own? In this class, students will learn what it means to be an “urbanist,” and why knowing our cities inside and out is so important! Learning about ancient cities, and a bit of New York’s own history, we will explore everything from skyscrapers to sidewalks. Using our imagination and what we have learned about urban design, we will craft and create miniature cities of our own invention. With the help of household items and recyclable materials, we will engage in urbanist art projects, and conduct a few experiments of our own.
