August 10 - August 14 Tinkerers (grades k-2)

Geek Forest

Robotics Code Lab

Using mBlock, a software which supports both blocked-based and Python programming, Codey Rocky takes students by their hands and leads them into the world of avant-garde technology with its inbuilt AI and IoT functionalities, giving them a competitive edge in the AI era. Harnessing the power of mBlock software, Codey Rocky allows children to create dot matrix animations, design games and realize AI and IoT applications. By programming every move made by the robot, not only will children understand each command intuitively, but they will also find it a rewarding experience through hardware creation.

MAKER SCIENCE: (afternoon)

h2o Exploratorium

Water Works: Students will be introduced to the importance of water in our ecosystem as well as the concept of water management. They will learn about the importance of water as an element in plant growth through hands on planting projects. We will make atmospheric models to mimic earth's atmosphere, learn where the water in the earth is stored, and create our own terrariums with all of the observations we make throughout the week. They will understand the causes of snow, rain, thunder storms, and water bodies. They will navigate how water travels throughout our city and how it reaches the roots of trees and plants. We will make models of cities and simulate pathways of water during heavy rainfalls. Students will have a field journal where they will write down their thoughts and observations through the week and get real field science experiences over the course of this week. They will learn about different behaviors they can adopt to ensure water availability for trees and their own flowers.

Please add the attending child's name in the Attending Child's Name field above.
