Comic Book + Animation Lab: Visual Storytelling (morning)
This course introduces students to visual storytelling through the art of comics, graphic novels, and digital animation. Students will embark on a guided visual storytelling journey complete with character development, narrative structure, cartooning, storyboarding, and multiple comic book creation media. The class will build a basic understanding of the fundamental elements that make up the comic books and graphic novels that inspire so much of modern-day popular media. Our class highlights collaboration, communication, and workshopping.
Electronics Lab: Light it up! LED Circuitry (afternoon)
Come push the boundaries of technology with us! With our partners Teknikio and Chibitronics we designed a circuitry lab where students will have fun learning basic circuits. Students will experiment with engineering using a battery, conductive thread, conductive tape and an LED to learn how to connect a circuit. By testing and manipulating these components, you can develop a more intuitive sense of how electricity flows through a circuit. We will be developing both 2-D and 3-D projects that build on student’s prior experience and learn to give our creations a cutting edge dazzle! Students will complete projects including magic gems: electric wearables. Whether you’re new or a seasoned pro, this class has a project you’ll be excited about.
