MAKER ELECTRONICS/ART: Music & Video Construction

At this construction site we will devote time and group energy to the creation and sharing of music and visual work by students that can then be shared publicly or privately online. Garageband for ipad or Mac is our recommended software, but other music making programs are allowed as well. As a group students will learn about different important parts of music, sound, recording, software, listening, history, and sharing! Individually students will be creating recordings and songs and can pursue any styles or instruments they love or want to know more about. Students will receive specific help with their issues and learn multiple ways to build and structure songs. The second half of the class will focus more heavily on the creation of visual art and video to accompany our songs. Students will be invited to learn to share their songs on a Geek Forest Bandcamp page that we will design and upload to as a group.

MAKER GAMER: Beginner’s Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons is a collaborative storytelling game that will enhance teamwork, problem solving through world building and imagination. Students will create their own characters, form an adventuring party, and explore a fantasy world while guiding their heroes through quests for treasure, battle deadly foes, perform daring rescues, and more. The adventurers begin their adventure on their way to the small mountainside town of Alden, only to find out that there is a massive spider problem, a GIANT spider problem. They'll have to find out where they're coming from and why, and even get rid of (or work alongside) the creatures. We'll be using version 5E with milestone-based leveling. The campaign is a home-brew with a few elements from the WOTC resources.

MAKER GAMER: Dungeons & Dragons: Storm of Deceit

The sprawling city of Lemahart is dominated by one of the world's tallest structures: the combination lighthouse-laboratory, the magic-powered Great Anchor. Aside from the occasional spot of rain, which is kept in check by the city's weather wizards, Lemahart is a veritable paradise for the vast majority of those who live there. However, one night, the Great Anchor's perpetually-lit top begins to flicker. The next night, it gets worse. As the pattern continues in a downward spiral, Lemahart's greatest minds have swarmed to figure out the cause of this strange occurrence. With signs pointing to sabotage, they have decided to go through with a last resort: inviting adventurers to come to their aid. Storm of Deceit is a homebrewed campaign for Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition that takes place in a med-magic, high-fantasy setting with a moderate emphasis on mystery solving. It takes inspiration from pieces such as Frankenstein, as well as from traditional western European folklore. Storm of Deceit will take players on a journey through the fantastic city of Lemahart, starting as little more than wanton freelancers, and potentially ending up as great heroes, the likes of which the land has never seen before!

MAKER GAMER: Dungeons & Dragons: Ways & Wardens

In the the realm of Siyez, the path of the adventurer is quite a noble one. For reasons far beyond the understanding of most mortals, when the right group of the right individuals comes together to act together for a proper cause, they will draw the attention of a being known as a Warden - an extra-planar entity that serves as a mix of a guardian, a retainer, and an impartial judge. Once watched over by a Warden, the now-greenhorn adventurers traditionally set off on journeys untold once they get their footing, in groups known as Troupes. However, a malicious presence lurks on the horizon. With threats of invasion from dark forces slowly evolving from mere rumors into realistic possibilities, the people of Siyez can only hope that it many Troupes can band together to keep them safe. Ways and Wardens is a homebrewed campaign for Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition that takes place in a high-magic, high-fantasy, "Noblebright" setting. The campaign is built to be accessible and fun for everyone from veteran players to newcomers!
